Numbers and Figures!?! 7,000,000,000

What does 7 billion mean, if you start counting, how long will it take? Can you picture it?

According to NatGeo, the population of the world is expected to reach 7 Billion in 2011. What is the first thought that comes to your mind when you think: World population – 7 Billion.?

By now, most of us are well aware of the rate at which our natural resources are dwindling. Global warming, energy issues, looming water issues, etc…

The earth is big enough to accommodate all 7 billion, in fact, standing shoulder to shoulder, all 7 billion of us can fit within the city of Los Angeles. However, the depleting resources will not be able to fulfill all our needs as the population keeps growing.

Maybe for now, developed nations and some people in developing nations might be fine, but eventually, the imbalance will impact us all alike….

Leaving you with a video by Nat Geo….

Remember, you can be the change, you can make a difference!

  1. I believe that the world is enough for humans, but a lot of humans do not think that anything is enough. I teach my self and my family to learn to be humble in life. I feel much peaceful than trying to chase having a big car for each member. After all, a car, a house, clothes are just tools. There is a never ending satisfaction in chasing after it.

IMHO, by my calculations, the entire L.A. Metropolitan area, in giving each person 1 sq. yd. of living space, would be extremely hard pressed to accomodate 1,000,000,000 people. This, taking into consideration that much of L.A. consists of uninhabitable terrain. And the broader perspective is that people, in general, tend to congregate in places that are inhabitable….
